New deals day with Dell is a Thursday, so I think the 2407WFP will apear on the UK site tomorrow. Still not sure whether to go for a 2405FPW, currently no deals on the site though, it's at full price of £940

Hi Everyone. I've been lurking for a month or two waiting for the 2407 but I couldn't watch someone pay £940 so I finally registered!

I turned my back on the 2407 today and ordered a 2405 instead. I got it on eBay for £569 delivered from a seller named EricBunny. Not such a bargain compared to the rest of the world but here in the UK it's a steal. The seller is well known and has a great reputation - just do a quick Google search.

Has anyone in the US or UK tried calling today to see if the monitors were actually in?

I think the mfc warranty is still effective on some of the monitors sold on Ebay.

Well as far as I know my monitor is just being drop shipped from Dell and is covered by a three year replacement warranty.

I spoke with a rep named Ryan in the Home/Monitors division (according to the numbers I pushed on the phone). I asked him when the 2407 would become available. He took a few minutes to look it up and came back with May 16th.

I mentioned the issues that people have been having and he said that the only thing he has heard of was that people were complaining about the stand being flimsy or something like that. I told him they were technical problems with how the graphics were being displayed on the LCD. He said that a lot of times those issues get ironed out before product release in the US.

I also asked what the return policy is if I buy one on the 16th and have issues. He said that within 21 days I can get all my money back (no restocking fees). I'm not sure about return shipping costs though.

I don't have much experience buying or returning stuff with Dell. It looks like there are a lot of experienced shoppers on this thread. What are the speciifcs when it comes to returns, repair, and exchange?

I take it you are not happy with the Dell 2407? Will you be returning it on the basis of the text shadows? Or is this matter not such a biggie and something that one could live with :?:

Are you experiencing any other PQ defects?
I noticed from your tests that you have not experienced the colour banding problem noted by the Japan-based forumites. If colour banding exists on your panel that would probably be an indicator of a more serious problem with the panel than the burry text. This would be something that would help confirm for the rest of this forum's readers if the quality of the 2407 is highly suspect.
Cheers

I have no major colour banding issues, I was expecting a 20% poorer image drop over my 19" Sony GPD G400 CRT but it is 97% as good as my CRT. I can live with that.

My text on the other hand suffers the shadow, I have found in the 2407's Settings menu a "Phase" option that was set to '3' (from 0 to 100), if I adjust it to '50' text is 300% clearer to read but still has a faint shadow.

If Dell can fix the shadow problem i Will be 200% happy with this monitor as I ahev no dead pixels, no major banding, no back light bleeding and a dark black screen :)

I think the post by justjer should be US

also, the 21-day return policy is quite standard in US, DELL will pay for returning shipping(they will even arrange carrier pickup), even after 21 days, if you are not satisfied with the product after multiple exchanges, you can still request a refund and should get approval without much problem.

The only indication I've seen is that ericbunny has updated his auction listing to indicate that the release date he's been given by Dell has been pushed back to the 29th June.

The best case scenario is that they're holding back the release in the US and UK until some of the initial problems have been fixed. Personally, I got bored of waiting.

What about setting the Phase option to 100? Do you manage to get rid of the shadows?

I'm here in Tokyo, and was about to plunge on the 2407WFP like daraemon555 did, but now I'm really holding back. We really need more feedback here as to how to proceed.

Hi, FearTec,
I presume you are using D-SUB. The phase option is available only when you use D-SUB.
I also have no colour banding with D-SUB, but I'm suffering colour banding and text's shadow with DVI.
If you have opportunity, could you check if your 2407 has no colour banding with DVI ?
