Yeah, what dopefish said. It's confirmed by Valve, if you Pre-order/purchase Orange Box on Steam, you will get to be part of the beta.

"Beta, schmeta" i say.
I ordered it today, pretty cheesey that i can't just Episode 2 for the same price as Ep1... it costs 50% more. Just went for broke and bought the whole Orange shabang.
Now I've an extra copy of Half-life 2, Episode One, and Half-Life: Source.
Hmm,. anyone interested in taking it off my hands? PM me an offer.
Will trade for coke and hookers.

Orange Box is a ripoff. I am waiting for a cheaper single buying option for TF2.
Until then: Argh Matey!

DigiQ8: Hey Greg
Greg: Hey. What's up?
DigiQ8: nm
DigiQ8: So we in the HL2net steam channel are wondering, when you guys gonna unlock TF2? What time exactly?
Greg: Late in the day. We're not saying an exact time, unfortunately.
DigiQ8: So no 12AM release?
Greg: No - late in the day.
DigiQ8: ok Thank you

I'm loving every minute of this game. It's hilarious.
It's beautifully made i think and i haven't noticed many errors even though it's considered a beta.
The spy's add most of the humour to the game, i love being one and fighting against one. All the characters look the shit, the sniper looks cool as fook, and The Heay's facial expressions are ace.
Whole lot of fun it is indeed!

Could someone who owns the game tell me......does it have a console-port-esque HUD?

What do you mean by that?
The engineer has the most information on screen at any one time, due to all of his builds (Dispenser, Turret, Teleporter).
