I spent almost an hour online with Dell Canada bouncing between departments to RMA my 2007fp yesterday. Tech starts asking about the computer, the cable etc.. I said "look there is 17 page topic on Dells own support forums, it is all over the net, it is a problem on all of them, I do not want to exchange, I want a refund". Thankfully this got me out of tech support in under 10 minutes, but I went from cust care, tech, cust care, returns etc.... Until I finally got someone to give me an RMA.
At no point did I actually talk to anyone that had a clue. I doubt they will look into the issue in any way.
The banding is down a fair bit on the new 2007fp but it is PVA panel now, which I hate, so banding and slightly blurred text was enough to return it. If it was IPS I might have put up with the rest.
Too bad because this was the screaming deal of 1600x1200 monitors at only $400 CDN.

i did the banding test on my new 2007wfp. i am using DVI, and i have to say...the banding seems minmal to me. i can only see it in the darker portions... as the brightness increases (from left to right) the banding goes away completely. i dont have a pic yet...maybe later

I have to say, I'm having a terrible time with Dell customer service. My 2007 has been sitting in its box ready to leave for 2 weeks now! The courier never called, so yesterday i called Dell to remind them. After waiting on hold for 45 minutes I was disconnected for no apparent reason, so I tried again, but eventually ran out of time to wait on the phone this time. So i sent them an email, which I haven't received any sort of response to 36 hours later (not even automated). Clearly Dell is still able to profit from mass-scale returns of lousy products by holding onto peoples money for as long as possible. I suspect they are in fact an investment banking company, not a genuine computer retailer.

I called and Dell did a Label for me. I dropped it at the courier myself rather than arrange a pickup since no one is home during the day. I hope they are quick with the credit.
Also you may want to check for blurred text which I think they all have as well. Mine did. Compare closely with a good screen.
Here is mine compared to my 2405:

I wouldn't touch a 2x07 from Dell with a 10ft poll.

Dell is committed to serving our customers.
We have received feedback from some customers regarding our 2007FP, 2007WFP and 2407WFP monitors regarding uneven color bands on some images. This effect is known as "banding.â€Â

Blast, if you read what is posted in the Dell forums, it does not sound like this is something the end consumer can do. While it's mostly just speculation right now, it's probably something that we require service, so it may have to be shipped back to Dell or at least a registered service center. If your friends are wanting to get theirs fixed, well it's probably best to have them submit their info as requested. Nice of Dell to post this info here though, makes me feel that at least they're aware of the situation, as well as more confident in their customer support

Unfortunately, the firmware update can't be applied through a download by the end user. If you have a unit experiencing this issue, I would urge you to either contact me at Customer_Advocate@dell.com or to visit this thread on the Dell Community Forum.

Any idea if this fix also correct text blur? This was clearly evident to many sharp eyed users of the 2007fp/2007wfp/2407wfp, but it is less obvious to most folks than the banding.
