Minor (Singleplayer anomalies)
From WSGFWiki
Definition
A singleplayer anomaly is any uncommon behavior that occurs in singleplayer mode when widescreen is enabled that is detrimental to gameplay. It does not include stretched HUDs, as those are much too common to be considered anomalies. The criteria that makes one a minor anomaly instead of a major anomaly is that it appears infrequently, is restricted to gameplay functions that are not often used, or is a graphical glitch that does not directly interfere with gameplay.
Minor singleplayer anomalies can include, but are not limited to:
Games that are hor + most of the time but have a few specific levels or stretches of gameplay that are vert - or stretched.
Games that are hor + most of the time but have infrequently used gameplay functions, such as alternate camera angles, that are vert - or stretched.
Infrequently occuring or benign graphical glitches as a result of enabling widescreen.
Examples
Unreal 2 is hor + when the FOV is configured properly. But on the Atlantis, the FOV setting is ignored, making gameplay vert - on those levels.
Doom III is hor + when configured correctly. But the PDA screen, which is used infrequently and not vital to gameplay, is stretched.
Galactic Civilizations II is hor + out of the box. But the tutorial videos must be played in windowed-mode, because if you try to play them full sized on a widescreen resolution, the tops and bottoms of them get cut off, making them useless.
Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast has quickload screens that show a screenshot of the game where you last saved, along with a loading bar. But when widescreen is enabled, you can only see a solid white screen until the quickload is finished.
