Description

The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II and its expansion, The Rise of the Witch-King, are natively Vert - in widescreen resolutions (see Detailed Report). This means that the wider the aspect ratio, the more the game engine will subtract from vertical field of view. The Widescreen and Triplehead Enhanced modifications available here address this problem by changing the camera settings for both games--substantially increasing the horizontal and vertical field of view (see screenshot comparisons below).

For widescreen, the camera's default altitude of 300 is increased to 600. For Triplehead, which is totally unplayable under the game's default camera behavior, the camera is set to an altitude of 900. Sound fx, shadow rendering, font sizing, and hardware fog fx were also altered or removed to better suit the new field of view and camera settings. 2D menu and HUD elements, as well as the War of the Ring campaign map, still suffer from horizontal stretching.
