Sports games attempt to re-create sporting events and games in the virtual world. There are generally two types: Simulation and Arcade. The sim sub-genre often focuses on stats and either a "coaching" or "front office" focus. Many sports games that place the player in the "field action" also include sim modes or components. Arcade sports games often forgo real-world rules and settings, and place the emphasis on a faster form of play.
