Definition

A game whose widescreen method is "Command line" is a game where enabling widescreen requires launching the game's executable from the Windows command line, with some parameters, usually specifying the resolution. To bring up a command line in Windows XP, launch the Start menu, click "Run," and type "cmd." Creating a shortcut and adding parameters to it can be a substitute for using the command line.

Examples

To play Age of Mythology in a widescreen resolution, navigate to the game directory and type this syntax: <Game executable> xres=<Horizontal resolution> yres=<Vertical resolution> Where <Game executable> is "aom.exe" for Age of Mythology, and "aomx.exe" for The Titans and Age of Mythology Gold.

So, if you want to play Age of Mythology Gold at 1920x1200, you would type aomx xres=1920 yres=1200.

Alternatively, you can create a shortcut to the executable and add the xres=<Horizontal resolution> yres=<Vertical resolution> parameters to it.
