Definition

A singleplayer anomaly is any uncommon behavior that occurs in singleplayer mode when widescreen is enabled that is detrimental to gameplay. It does not include stretched HUDs, as those are much too common to be considered anomalies. The criteria that makes one a major anomaly instead of a major anomaly is that it appears frequently, usually in the form of a gameplay function or mode that is used throughout the entire game.

Major singleplayer anomalies can include, but are not limited to:

Games that are hor + most of the time but have several specific levels or stretches of gameplay that are vert - or stretched.

Games that are hor + from the standard perspective but have frequently used gameplay functions, such as maps, inventory screens, or strategic views, that are vert - or stretched.

Frequently occuring graphical glitches that directly interfere with gameplay (but do not render it unplayable).

Examples

Doom via the Jdoom engine, and all of the games the Jdoom engine supports, are Hor+ when configured properly. However, the frequently used automaps are stretched.

Brothers In Arms: Road to Hill 30 is hor + in first person mode, but vert - in command mode.

Giants: Citizen Kabuto is hor + in the standard 3D view, but the maps are stretched, and the alternate camera angles, the shops, and the strategy view are all vert -.
