Getting Started

  • Warm up your monitor at least 15 minutes before testing.
  • Any new monitor may take a few weeks to fully "break in".
  • Before you start, you may want to read "THG Unveils New LCD Benchmarking Method" at Tom's Hardware
  • Also, there is some fabulous technical material is also available free at ColorWizzard

  • Pattern for screen adjustments, from HP
  • MonitorTest v2.2 (FREE only for 30 days & then $24) from Passmark
  • Monitor Calibration Wizard v1.0 from Hex2Bit
  • Monitor Tester & Monitor Tester V 2.0.1 (2 FREE Downloads) from Simtel.net (Search for "Monitor Tester," the link won't work within MediaWiki)
  • PixPerAn: from prad.de (Developer comments: "Some TFT-Displays show "ghost pictures" after displaying flickering contents for a long time. usually those "ghost pictures" will disappear after some time. It seems to be very likely that this will happen with most TFT's. But of course we cannot guarantee this!" (That it will return to normal)"

  • Widescreen Wallpapers from InterfaceLIFT (Download the resolution you need,set it as desktop picture and move the gamma slider on your GFX card drivers up and down. You'll then see details coming and going.)
