Definition

A game with partial widescreen resolution support is runnable at at least one mainstream 16:10 resolution, at least one mainstream 16:9 resolution, and 1280x768 (the only mainstream 15:9 resolution), but it does not run at ALL of them.

Mainstream 16:10 resolutions:
1280x800
1440x900
1680x1050
1920x1200

Mainstream 16:9 resolutions:
1280x720
1920x1080

Examples

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay has been confirmed to run at 1280x720, 1280x768, 1280x800, and 1920x1200, representing all three widescreen aspect ratios. However, it is unknown if it supports 1440x900, 1680x1050, and 1920x1080.

Painkiller has been confirmed to run at 1280x720, 1280x768, 1280x800, 1440x900, 1680x1050, and 1920x1080, representing all three widescreen aspect ratios. But it does not support 1920x1200.
