Version: This information is based on the Windows version of GZDoom, version 1.0.21, downloadable here. Note that you will need the original data files in order to play the game. GZDoom allows you to play several DOOM engine games. They are DOOM (plus Shareware and Ultimate versions), DOOM 2, Final DOOM, Heretic (plus Shadow of the Serpent Riders add-on), and Hexen (plus Deathkings of the Dark Citadel add-on).
DOOM needs no introduction. It is the grandfather of the FPS genre as we know it. The GZDoom engine is a port of the originally DOS-based game that allows for high-res OpenGL graphics, mouselook, some widescreen support, among other things.
